About the AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club)

If you are not yet a member of the AMC, and you love the outdoors, I encourage you to join and get involved! The AMC supports conservation, education, and safe exploration of the outdoors. You can sign up for a wide variety of activities to learn and develop outdoor skills, experience and enjoy the outdoors, and meet others with similar interests. If you are experienced, you can become a volunteer leader to guide others on either local or distant expeditions. There are many chapters throughout New England and beyond, grouped by location. And each chapter has several committees supporting activities for different interest groups. For example, some of the committees in the Boston Chapter are:

Bicycling Canoe/Kayaking Conservation Hiking/Backpacking Intro (Beginner to Intermediate) Local Walks

Mountaineering (Rock and Ice Climbing) Ski Young Members (20's and 30's) Forty Plus (Over 40) Family Outings
